My name is Agata Smólska. I come from Gdańsk (Poland) where I graduated with a Master’s Degree in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2009. Afterwards I studied the History of Art at the University of Warsaw where in 2013 I earned my Master’s Degree with a thesis concerning the life and work of Gwen John – an exquisite British artist who lived at the turn of the 20th century. In 2015, I joined the Breakthru team as a painting animator in the Black & White section. It was a big challenge for me. I loved the motives I dealt with – the lyrical “noir” scenes that made up the retrospective part of the “Loving Vincent” story. Their intimate, dreamy character corresponded in a way with the atmosphere I try to achieve in my own works.
